I’ve been noodling on tabletop game design lately, working to put together a simple to learn, quick to play, GM-less game. I’m trying to limit the use of dice during character creation, while still leaving a heap of room for randomness. The character generation technique I’ve been toying with is to start by selecting a character’s name, then choosing 1 noun, 2 verbs, 3 adjectives, and 1 adverb. Together these all build the basic structure of your player character...or maybe an NPC? I’m still working on the details. 😬
