Movie night! This evening I went to see Blade Runner while Avi stayed home with mom and watched Curious George. I’m still digesting Blade Runner, but know I enjoyed it. The score and sound effects alone made it worth the trip to the cinema.
The original Blade Runner is the first film I remember seeing that simultaneously felt like it had real narrative stakes while following characters who, for the most part, didn’t “matter” in the grand scheme of the narrative’s world. This movie picked up where the last one left off, in a way, which shifted the story’s scale…maybe focus is a better word? The characters were operating at the same or a similar level as the first movie, but they seemed to matter more to the world.
